Task Lamps and Torchiere Floor Lamps

 

Full Spectrum Torchiere offers a safe, energy efficient alternative to conventional 300 watt halogen torchieres. These floor-standing lamps use a 55 watt Full Spectrum tri-phosphor fluorescent bulb, and are available in five models.

The fixture's dimmable switch allows for variable lighting with distinct levels of light ranging from 1,000 to 3,900 lumens. The balanced lamp design configuration offers uniform light distribution at any setting. With the lamp of high the fixture will deliver light equal to, or greater than, most 300 watt halogen torchieres.

How Light Therapy is Used

	Full Spectrum Light Therapy exposes the user to intense light using a system consisting of full-spectrum bulbs installed in a box with a plastic diffusing screen.
	The box should be set on a table or desktop which would allow the user to sit close to the box. It is not necessary or recommended that the user look directly into the light, simply carry on normal activities such as computer work, writing, reading or eating, with orientation of the head and body toward the light.
	The Light Therapy session can last from 15 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the user's requirements. Duration of the sessions may need to be adjusted to achieve the best effect.
	Marked improvement is usually observed within 4 to 5 days, if not sooner, and symptoms often return in about the same amount of time when the lights are withdrawn.

Other Uses of Full Spectrum Lighting

Certain seasonal problems focused on winter can occur without depressed mood, such as increased appetite with overeating and weight gain, oversleeping, daytime fatigue and worsening of premenstrual symptoms, as reported by the Society for Light Therapy.   Light Therapy has been successful in such cases, although additional research is still necessary. Applications for certain non-seasonal problems also appear promising. Some include the treatment of delayed sleep phase disorder, jet-lag adjustments, bulimia nervosa and premenstrual syndrome.
